For our Special Forces themed weekend, we’ll be based in North Ayrshire, tracing the footsteps of the Belgian, French, and British SAS during the Second World War.
This immersive trip is inspired by the early training grounds and operational bases of some of the most legendary Special Forces units, including the iconic Lt. Col. Paddy Mayne.
We'll visit Loudoun, where the Belgian SAS were based during their time in Scotland, training for covert operations behind enemy lines. From there, we’ll explore a lesser-known but significant location where both 1 and 2 SAS trained and prepared for missions across Europe.
We'll also make our way to the Free French SAS training grounds as they honed their skills alongside British forces, contributing to the resistance movement and Allied operations across occupied territories.
A highlight of the weekend will be our trip to the Isle of Arran, one of the original training grounds for the Independent Commando Companies. This is where a young Paddy Mayne learned the toughness, endurance, and tactics that would make him a legendary figure in the SAS.
While on Arran, we’ll take on the climb up Goatfell, the island’s highest peak, following in the literal footsteps of the early Commandos who trained in the same rugged landscape.
It promises to be a powerful and memorable weekend, blending history, adventure, and tribute to the men who shaped the legacy of Special Forces as we know them today.
